Odd Light

NYC 2008 Family etc. 027

The glass that held the odd light

Fell to the floor and shattered.

It might have been the cat

Exploring, squeezing again

Into a space too small

That pushed it over the edge,

Or maybe the cosmos shifted

And the windowsill became uneven –

It doesn’t matter – it’s gone.

I will remember how it

Threw flecks of night

On any and all endings,

And I will remember you,

And your face in the odd light

At the end of the world.

These are scary times. Prepare yourself to take a stand for what is right. God damn it, just be kind!

  1. Both the poem and the picture are beautiful. Did Greg do all the pictures? This is a beautiful website/blog/ whatever.

    Can’t wait to see you.

    1. Greg took the eclipse photo, and my father took the photo featured in Remember. The other photos, unless otherwise noted are mine. BTW, the Italian villa logo is in your honor. Can’t wait to see you, too!!!
